Events – HCCY
Upcoming Events
HCCY events bring families, students, members, volunteers, and friends together throughout the year to celebrate Greek culture, community connection, music, food, tradition, and fellowship in York Region. Our events are designed to welcome people of all ages, from young children and students to parents, grandparents, seniors, and community supporters.
Whether you are attending a cultural celebration, a family dance, a student performance, or a monthly social gathering, HCCY events are an important part of how we stay connected as a community. These events give families an opportunity to gather outside of school and program activities, meet other members, support local initiatives, and celebrate the traditions that keep our Hellenic community strong.
Our upcoming events include annual celebrations, recurring community gatherings, and special activities that support HCCY’s mission of preserving culture, encouraging participation, and creating a welcoming space for families across Richmond Hill, York Region, and the Greater Toronto Area.

A Celebration for the Whole Family
Karnavali is one of the most joyful celebrations in the Greek community calendar. It is a time for music, costumes, dancing, food, laughter, and family fun. For HCCY, the annual Karnavali Dance is also a chance to bring together students, parents, grandparents, teachers, volunteers, and community friends for an evening that celebrates both tradition and togetherness.
The event is family-friendly and designed to create a festive atmosphere for guests of all ages. Children can enjoy the excitement of costumes, music, games, prizes, and the energy of the celebration, while adults can enjoy dinner, dancing, socializing, and connecting with friends from the community.
A highlight of the evening is the presentation of traditional Greek dances by Hellenic Academy of York students. These performances help showcase the cultural learning and community spirit that are central to HCCY’s programs. They also give students a chance to proudly participate in a public celebration of Greek heritage.
Greek Dance, Music, Food, and Community
Events like Karnavali help keep Greek culture alive in a way that is active, social, and memorable. They give children and youth the opportunity to experience cultural traditions not only in the classroom, but also through real community gatherings where music, dance, language, food, and family come together.
For families in Richmond Hill and York Region, Karnavali is more than a night out. It is a community tradition. It creates memories, strengthens relationships, supports HCCY programming, and gives members and guests a reason to celebrate together during the winter season.
Guests can expect an evening filled with dinner, entertainment, raffle prizes, costume fun, and dancing. With DJ Kosta from Party Time Entertainment helping keep the party going, the event is built around good energy, celebration, and connection.
Why Attend Karnavali?
Karnavali is a wonderful opportunity to support HCCY while enjoying a lively cultural event with family and friends. It is especially meaningful for families with children in HCCY and Hellenic Academy of York programs, because it gives students a chance to participate in a broader community celebration.
By attending, guests help support the continued work of HCCY and its community programming. Events like this make it possible to keep offering cultural, educational, recreational, and social opportunities for families across the region.
Everyone is encouraged to join, dress up, bring family and friends, and enjoy an evening that celebrates Greek culture, community pride, and the joy of coming together.

A Monthly Gathering for Connection
The HCCY Adult Social was created to help people reconnect with friends, meet new people, and feel part of an active community. Many adults and seniors have experienced isolation or disconnection in recent years, and regular social programming gives people a welcoming place to gather, talk, laugh, and enjoy time together.
Held on the first Saturday of each month at 9:30am, the Adult Social provides a relaxed and friendly environment for community members to come together. Guests can enjoy refreshments, lunch, conversation, and engaging programming while connecting with fellow Greeks from the Richmond Hill and York Region area.
The gathering is free and open to all, making it an easy way for people to get involved without pressure or cost. Whether someone has been part of HCCY for many years or is just beginning to connect with the community, the Adult Social is a warm place to start.
Why Adult Social Programs Matter
Community connection is important at every age. Social gatherings help people feel supported, included, and valued. For adults and seniors, especially those who may not regularly attend school programs, youth activities, or family events, a monthly social gathering provides a meaningful way to remain connected to Hellenic culture and community life.
The Adult Social also helps strengthen intergenerational community ties. While many HCCY programs focus on children, students, and families, adult programming ensures that older members and community friends also have opportunities to participate, contribute, and enjoy fellowship.
These gatherings help preserve community spirit. They create space for storytelling, friendship, cultural conversation, shared meals, and simple human connection. That is the heart of HCCY’s mission: bringing people together and keeping the community strong.
Who Should Attend?
The Adult Social is open to anyone looking for friendly conversation, community connection, and a welcoming Saturday morning gathering. It is especially ideal for adults, seniors, retirees, newcomers to the community, and anyone who would enjoy spending time with fellow community members.
You do not need to come with a large group. Many people attend to reconnect with familiar faces, while others come to meet new friends. The event is designed to be approachable, casual, and welcoming.
Guests are encouraged to share the event with friends, family members, neighbours, and anyone who may benefit from a positive community gathering.
