Parent Appreciation Day – Saturday, February 2, 2019
HCCY members and HAY parents are invited to join us for a cup of coffee and sweets during the morning drop-off at the Greek School this Saturday. Please stop by and meet your board members and fellow parents.

HAY Open House – Saturday, February 2, 2019
Please note, this Saturday from 1:00pm to 2:30pm the Hellenic Academy ofYork will be hosting an Open House. Parents and guardians are invited to visit their children’s classrooms to review student progress and curriculum with teachers. Please don’t miss this opportunity to connect with your children’s teachers.

Richmond Hill Winter Carnival – February 2 & 3, 2019
Please be aware, the Richmond Hill Winter Carnival will be on this weekend at Mill Pond, near the corner of Mill Street and Trench Street. Please allow extra time for pick up and drop off at Greek School this Saturday as there may be road closures and increased traffic to contend with. Family Day – NO CLASSES – Saturday, February 16, 2019
Please note, there will be no classes held at the Hellenic Academy of York on Saturday, February 16, 2019 in recognition of the Family Day long weekend.

HCCY Annual Karnavali Dance – Saturday, March 2, 2019
RESERVE TICKETS NOW! The HellenicCanadian Community of York Region (HCCY) is pleased to announce we will be hosting our Annual Karnavali Dance at Bellagio Boutique Event Venue on Saturday, March 2, 2019. As always, we encourage all to dress up for your chance to win best costume prizes. Don’t miss your chance to attend this spectacular event by reserving your tickets today. Year after year tickets for this event sell quickly and the event is always unforgettable. Masqueraders young and old will dine and dance the night away. Featuring a three course dinner, open bar, live entertainment featuring our very own HAY student dance performers, a Levendia-X Hellenic Dance Group performance, music featuring DJ Kosta, and many valuable prizes to be won. Tickets are only $85 for Adults, and $40 for children (ages 12 and under). Proceeds from this fundraising event will support program enrichment for our Greek School, the Hellenic Academy of York.

Notice for Students & Parents – Grade 1 to Grade 8
Simone Gavros, our HAY Dance Instructor would like to inform you of the following: Grade 1 to Grade 8 Hellenic Academy of York students will be performing this year at our annual Karnavali Dance on March 2. In order to have an accurate count dancers for preparations, Simone would need to know who will be attending. Kindly notify Simone by email, send children name(s) and grade to simonegavros@gmail.com. For the dance presentations, all performers (boys & girls) are reminded to wear white long sleeve dress shirts, with black dress pants/skirts and black dress shoes.

Hellenic History Tournament – Saturday, May 4, 2019
The Canadian Order of AHEPA District #23 Hellenic History Tournament is set to take place on Saturday, May 4th, 2019 at the Upper Canada College in Toronto. High school students grades 8-12 will compete in teams in a jeopardy-like competition. There are cash prizes of up to $4500 CDN to be won and the first and second place teams will be eligible for $6,750 USD at the International Tournament to be held in Chicago, Illinois in July 2019. Entry deadline is February 20th. Click here for more information.
