Parent Appreciation – Saturday, May 4, 2019
HCCY members and HAY parents are invited to join us for a cup of coffee and sweets during the morning drop-off at the Greek School this Saturday. Please stop by and meet your board members and fellow parents.
HAY Danceathon – Saturday, May 11, 2019
Attention all Students – Time to put on your dancing shoes and brush up on the latest dance moves. Hellenic Academy of York Greek School students will enjoy dancing to popular songs both English and Greek, while at the same time fundraising much needed donations for the continued program enhancement of our school. This year marks the 13th Annual Danceathon which will take place on Saturday, May 11, at 12:30pm in the gym. We ask all parents and friends to please give generously and promote your child’s participation. Students are asked to submit donations to their teachers directly. $10 participation fee per student is suggested.
HAY – No Classes – Saturday, May 18, 2019
Please note there will be no classes on Saturday, May 18, 2019 in observance of the Victoria Day holiday. We wish you all a safe and happy long weekend.
HAY – 2019/2020 Greek School Pre-Registration
COMING SOON – Online pre-registration preparations are underway for the upcoming 2019/2020 Hellenic Academy of York Greek School year. Stay tuned for a follow up email shortly announcing the opening of registration. Please ensure to pre-register on or before the end of day Saturday June 8, 2019 to take advantage of the early-bird discount on tuition fees.
HCCY Golf Tournament – Sunday, May 26, 2019
REGISTER NOW – We are pleased to announce the annual HCCY Nine & Dine Family Golf Tournament on Sunday, May 26th, 2019 at 1:00pm. We have changed up our golf tournament format to promote increased student and parent participation. Younger or older, experienced golfer or not, we encourage all students and parents to take advantage of this great opportunity to be introduced to the game of golf in what we expect to be a fun and family oriented environment. Come out for some great golf, food, entertainment, and a chance to win some great prizes. Register today and be sure not to miss this family friendly event. Due to popular demand we will be serving up 2 Lambs on the Souvla at this year’s tournament! Proceeds of this event support the continued program enrichment for our Greek school, the Hellenic Academy of York.
HCCY/HAY Notice of Annual General Meeting – Saturday, June 1, 2019
Please note the Hellenic Canadian Community of York Region will be holding an Annual General Meeting of Members on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at the Greek School commencing at 10:15am. We request all members be in attendance. If you are unable to attend we ask that you kindly submit a signed proxy to ensure we achieve quorum for our meeting. Please download, print and submit your completed forms to the office.
Greek Language High School Credit Program – September, 14, 2019
We are pleased to announce that the York Region District School Board will be providing Greek Language High School Credit Courses once again this year for grades 9/10 thru 12 in the fall. We have made assurances to the YRDSB that HAY would provide assistance to meet the minimum requirement of registrants in order to move forward with the course offering. In order to meet this obligation, it is imperative that all graduating students from grade 8 and beyond register. The courses will be held at Richmond Hill High School on Saturday mornings starting on September 14, 2019 from 8:45am – 12:30pm. The credit course program will run from September until June.
